Steps

Solve for x

  1. Cross multiply
  2. Expand that is multiply the number outside with the one in the bracket.
  3. Collect like terms.
  4. Divide both sides by 2 so as find x.

Answer

When cross multiply, you have

7(x - 9) = 5( x - 5)

7x - 63 = 5x - 25

7x - 5x = -25 + 63

2x = 38

X = 19.
