Finding perimeter and area of a rectangle.
Math example.
Answer
The perimeter of a rectangle is given by the formula, P = 2 l + 2 w , where l is the length and w is the width of the rectangle.
The area A of a rectangle is given by the formula, A = l w , where l is the length and w is the width.
1.a. P= 2L + 2w = 2x8 + 2x5 = 16 + 10 = 26 A= L x w = 8 x 5 = 40
1.b. P= 2L + 2w = 2x5 + 2x7 = 10 + 14 = 24 A= L x w = 5 x 7 = 35
2.a. P= 2L + 2w = 2x7 + 2x3 = 14 + 6 = 20cm A= L x w = 7 x 3 = 21cm2
2.b. P= 2L + 2w = 2x4 + 2x9 = 8 + 18 = 26cm A= L x w = 4 x 9 = 36cm2
