Let’s suppose that A is the number of apples that I have and B is the numbers of apples that my friend have.

I have 10 apples, means A= 10 apples

My friend had twice as much apples then me, means B= 2x10 or B= 10+10

Finally the correct answer will be, B= 20 apples.

 

That means my friend have the double of apples that I have: 20 apples.
